The company was started to provide corporate
level IT expertise to Small and Medium Enterprises
(SME's) and to offer the highest level of service to businesses.
Everyone at Wilson IT has a background that involves working
for large multi-national companies as well as SME's.
It was while working for SME's that we realised they are often
serviced by companies that lacked the knowledge and know-how
to minimise IT costs and this is where our corporate expertise
comes in.
Why would I want corporate expertise in an SME?
One word, money. On a small scale IT support and maintenance
is inherently inefficient. Take desktop software for instance,
one person will often take hours to set up software on a single
PC and this work will then have to be repeated many times
across all the other PC's and over the life of the computers.
Compare this with a large corporation; they initially spend
longer setting up the software in a special way but once done
this can then be replicated in a matter of minutes across
all the computers. When you're talking about hundreds or possibly
thousands of computers the cost savings are enormous.
However, this method of doing things is equally valid for
smaller companies. The short term cost savings are not as
great but the long term cost savings add up significantly
over the life of the computer.
There are dozens of other scenarios as well, such as Anti
Virus software that updates from a central location in
your office. This reduces your Internet bandwidth,
increases update reliability, alerts an administrator
and allows monitoring to see which computers are up to
date. This software can often work out cheaper
than retail software too.
